Jason A. Cunningham

Managing Partner

Jason Cunningham is a co-founder of Eaglehill. Prior to founding Eaglehill, Mr. Cunningham was a Managing Director in the Alternative Asset Group at Citi. Mr. Cunningham joined Citi in 1994 in the Media, Technology and Communications Group. During his early years at Citigroup Global Markets, Inc. ("Citi"), he was involved in many transformative transactions prompted by the Telecommunications Act of 1996. He financed and advised media companies across multiple industries during a period of significant consolidation and he also completed the first high yield offering for a Russian company. Mr. Cunningham joined the Alternative Assets Group at Citi in 1996, where he covered private equity companies and entrepreneurs for 18 years. His primary coverage was private equity firms, and in 2008, he led the effort for Citi’s west coast private equity coverage. His clients included some of the largest global private equity and hedge fund clients. Additionally, he had responsibility for a number of corporate clients that were frequent issuers in the capital markets. Mr. Cunningham also raised over $2 billion of capital for public Alternative Asset vehicles for private equity firms, hedge funds and entrepreneurs. Mr. Cunningham graduated cum laude with a B.S.B.A from Georgetown University.

Mark E. Villanueva


Mark Villanueva is a Principal at Eaglehill. Prior to joining Eaglehill, Mr. Villanueva was a Vice President in the Leveraged Finance Group at Citi. Mr. Villanueva covered a variety of sectors and issuers though his primary responsibility was financial institutions. In this role, he originated, structured and marketed both leveraged loans and high yield bonds in support of leveraged buyouts and other transactions. He was responsible for leading credit underwriting approvals, the negotiation of capital commitments and played a pivotal role in the distribution of securities in the primary and secondary markets. Mr. Villanueva also advised on liability management and developed bespoke structures for stressed issuers. He was also involved with respect to certain asset transactions relating to the Citi Holdings portfolio. Mr. Villanueva began his career in Leveraged Finance as an attorney in the Banking and Finance Group at Weil, Gotshal and Manges LLP where he represented investment banks and specialty lenders in the structuring and negotiation of committed financings in support of leveraged buyouts and other acquisition finance. His clients included some of the largest banks and financial institutions including Citi, Goldman Sachs, Lehman Brothers and GE Capital. During the financial crisis, Mr. Villanueva advised distressed issuers and hedge funds in a variety of transactions, including liability management, out-of-court restructurings, Chapter 11 prepackaged bankruptcies, debtor-in-possession and exit financings. Mr. Villanueva also negotiated and advised on highly structured distressed loan portfolio dispositions financed through complex financing structures. Mr. Villanueva graduated cum laude from Boston College. Following Boston College he received his Juris Doctor at Rutgers University and MBA at ESADE Business School.

Marcos P. Garcia

Vice President

Marcos Garcia is a Vice President at Eaglehill. Prior to joining Eaglehill, Mr. Garcia was an Investment Banking Associate in the Alternative Assets Group at Citi. Mr. Garcia joined Citi in 2009 in the Global Securitized Products group within Capital Markets Origination. In this role, he originated, structured and marketed asset-backed securities, syndicated and bilateral securitized lending facilities and whole loan sales across a variety of asset classes including autos, middle market commercial loans, credit cards, student loans and esoteric assets. He financed and advised specialty finance companies, banks and BDCs during the financial crisis when capital origination for these companies was challenged. Mr. Garcia joined the Alternative Assets Group at Citi in 2011. In this role, he assisted private equity companies in the identification, structuring and financing of leveraged buyout transactions and the evaluation of strategic alternatives for portfolio companies, including M&A, equity and debt. In addition, he raised capital and provided strategic alternatives for public Alternative Asset vehicles. He completed thorough business and financial due diligence, developed financial models, performed valuation and led committee approval processes for over 100 transactions across a variety of industries. Mr. Garcia graduated magna cum laude with a B.S. in Accounting from the University of Southern California.
